Cars

Vehicles, and in particular passenger vehicles such as cars and trucks are a topic of endless fascination for me. Cars are an amazing intersection of engineering, culture, and enjoyment. In recent years I have gotten very interested in driving cars on my local track, High Plains Raceway.

During the pandemic, I put together a sim racing rig with a nice wheel and spent a lot of time sim driving and racing during the pandemic. I enjoy time trial more and hot laps more than racing in the sim.

I always liked performance cars. American V8s, pony cars, and the Americana around road and car culture is a topic of great interest for me.

I have branched into European cars as well. Mostly Porsche, although I really like the e46 BMW era. I don't prefer BMWs in general, but the e46 is an especially great chassis and era for BMW. I have become very fond of mid-engine cars and how they behave on track. For that reason I moved away from the 911 platform. I still generally prefer naturally aspirated cars as well. They feel like the more pure driver's car for me.
